Xiaomi Mi Note 4 नाम के एक स्मार्टफोन को चीनी सर्टिफिकेशन साइट TENAA पर लिस्ट किया गया है। लिस्टिंग से हैंडसेट के डिज़ाइन को लेकर अहम जानकारियां सामने आई हैं। Xiaomi Mi Note 4 स्मार्टफोन बीते साल सितंबर में लॉन्च किए गए Mi Note 3 का अपग्रेड होगा। वैसे, बीच में खबर आई थी कि कंपनी Mi Note 5 लाएगी। मी नोट 4 नाम को नहीं इस्तेमाल करने का फैसला किया गया है। हालांकि, ताज़ा लिस्टिंग से नए फोन का नाम Mi Note 4 होने की पुष्टि हुई है।

TENAA लिस्टिंग में M1807E8A मॉडल नंबर का इस्तेमाल हुआ है। डिज़ाइन की बात करें तो यह पारदर्शी बैकपैनल के साथ आएगा। ऐसे ही बैकपैनल की झलक बीते महीने लॉन्च किए गए शाओमी मी 8 एक्सप्लोरर एडिशन में देखने को मिली थी। टीना लिस्टिंग से लीक हुई तस्वीर से पता चला है कि फोन में वर्टिकल पोज़ीशन में डुअल रियर कैमरा सेटअप होगा। पावर और वॉल्यूम बटन को दायें किनारे पर जगह मिली है।

टीना की वेबसाइट पर Mi Note 4 के स्पेसिफिकेशन लिस्ट नहीं किए गए हैं। संभव है कि यह स्नैपड्रैगन 710 प्रोसेसर के साथ आने वाला शाओमी का दूसरा डिवाइस होगा। इससे पहले कंपनी शाओमी मी 8 एसई को लॉन्च किया है। दूसरे डिवाइस का कोडनेम Comet था। पहले कयास लगाए जा रहे थे कि यह Xiaomi Mi Max 3 Pro हो सकता है। लेकिन कंपनी ने इन कयासों को पूरी तरह से खारिज कर दिया। ऐसे में अब शाओमी मी नोट 4 को लेकर दावे किए जा रहे हैं।

याद रहे कि Xiaomi 'Comet' में स्नैपड्रैगन 710 प्रोसेसर, ओलेड डिस्प्ले, ऑलवेज ऑन फीचर, डुअल सिम, 3100 एमएएच बैटरी, आईआर ब्लास्टर और आउट ऑफ बॉक्स एंड्रॉयड 8.1 ओरियो दिए जाने की उम्मीद है। इस फोन में एनएफसी सपोर्ट नहीं होगा और माइक्रोएसडी कार्ड के लिए भी कोई अलग स्लॉट नहीं दिया जाएगा।

चीनी मार्केट में Xiaomi Mi 8, Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer Edition और Xiaomi Mi 8 SE को लॉन्च करने के बाद Xiaomi अब 19 सितंबर को अपनी मी 8 सीरीज़ का नया स्मार्टफोन लॉन्च करेगी। चीनी कंपनी ने अपने अगले स्मार्टफोन के लॉन्च की तारीख का ऐलान कर दिया है, लेकिन फोन के नाम का खुलासा नहीं हुआ। हालांकि, कयासों का बाज़ार Mi 8 Youth के नाम को लेकर गर्म है। आधिकारिक टीज़र और पुरानी रिपोर्ट्स पर गौर करें तो अगले हफ्ते Xiaomi Mi 8 Youth को लॉन्च किया जाएगा। संभव है कि कंपनी Xiaomi Mi 8X को लॉन्च करे, क्योंकि यह भी लंबे समय से सुर्खियों का हिस्सा रहा है।

बता दें कि यह फोन पिछले हफ्ते ही चीनी सर्टिफिकेशन साइट TENAA पर लिस्ट किया गया था। रेंडर के मुताबिक, स्मार्टफोन में पिछले हिस्से पर दो कैमरे होंगे, वो भी हॉरीज़ॉन्टल पोज़ीशन में। ग्राफिक्स से बनी तस्वीर में यह साफ नहीं हो पाया है कि फ्रंट पैनल पर डिस्प्ले नॉच होगा या नहीं।

इससे पहले जानकारी मिली थी कि Xiaomi Mi 8 Youth में 6.26 इंच का फुल एचडी+ (1080x2280 पिक्सल) डिस्प्ले मिलेगा। इसका आस्पेक्ट रेशियो 19:9 होगा। शाओमी मी 8 यूथ में आपको डिस्प्ले नॉच डिजाइन भी मिलेगा। स्पीड और मल्टीटास्किंग के लिए क्वालकॉम स्नैपड्रैगन 710 प्रोसेसर के साथ 6 जीबी रैम हो सकती है। फोटो, वीडियो और अन्य कंटेंट को सेव करने के लिए 64 जीबी की स्टोरेज मिलेगी। लेटेस्ट ट्रेंड को फॉलो करते हुए शाओमी अपने इस हैंडसेट में दो रियर कैमरे दे सकती है। प्राइमरी सेंसर 12 मेगापिक्सल का होगा। सेकेंडरी सेंसर 2 मेगापिक्सल या 5 मेगापिक्सल का हो सकता है। सेल्फी और वीडियो कॉलिंग के लिए 24 मेगापिक्सल का फ्रंट कैमरा दिया जा सकता है। पावर बैकअप के लिए Mi 8 Youth में 3,350 एमएएच की बैटरी दी जा सकती है जो क्वालकॉम क्विक चार्ज 3.0 के साथ आएगी।

हैंडसेट निर्माता कंपनी वीवो अगले महीने 6 सितंबर को मुंबई में आयोजित इवेंट के दौरान Vivo V11 Proको लॉन्च करेगी। वेबसाइट एंड्रॉयड प्योर पर वीवो वी11 प्रो की टीजर इमेज को जारी किया गया है। बता दें कि इससे पहले कई आधिकारिक टीजर ट्विटर पर भी जारी किए जा चुके हैं। Vivo का यह स्मार्टफोन हेलो फुल व्यू डिस्प्ले और वाटरड्रॉप नॉच के साथ आएगा। तस्वीर में दिख रहा है कि Vivo V11 Pro में वर्टिकल डुअल रियर कैमरा सेटअप मिलेगा। वीवो वी11 प्रो का फ्रंट और रियर कैमरा आर्टिफिशियल इंटेलीजेंस से लैस होगा। टीजर इमेज से पता चला है कि Vivo V11 Pro में पतले बेजल और फोन के ऊपर हिस्से पर नॉच मौजूद है। तस्वीर में दो रियर कैमरे, एलईडी फ्लैश और बैक पैनल पर वीवो का लोगो नजर आ रहा है। वीवो वी11 प्रो की भारत में कीमत और उपलब्धता की जानकारी अगले महीने लॉन्च इवेंट के दौरान ही सामने आने की उम्मीद है।

You're crossing the street wrong.

That is essentially the argument some self-driving car boosters have fallen back on in the months after the first pedestrian death attributed to an autonomous vehicle and amid growing concerns that artificial intelligencecapable of real-world driving is further away than many predicted just a few years ago.

In a line reminiscent of Steve Jobs's famous defence of the iPhone 4'sflawed antennae - "Don't hold it like that" - these technologists say the problem isn't that self-driving cars don't work, it's that people act unpredictably.

"What we tell people is, 'Please be lawful and please be considerate,'" says Andrew Ng, a well-known machine learning researcher who runs a venture fund that invests in AI-enabled companies, including self-driving startup Drive.AI. In other words: no jaywalking.

Whether self-driving cars can correctly identify and avoid pedestrians crossing streets has become a burning issue since March after an Uber self-driving car killed a woman in Arizona who was walking a bicycle across the street at night outside a designated crosswalk. The incident is still under investigation, but a preliminary report from federal safety regulators said the car's sensors had detected the woman but its decision-making software discounted the sensor data, concluding it was likely a false positive.

Google's Waymo has promised to launch a self-driving taxi service, starting in Phoenix, Arizona, later this year, and General Motors Co. has pledged a rival service - using a car without steering wheel or pedals - some time in 2019. But it's unclear if either will be capable of operating outside of designated areas or without a safety driver who can take over in an emergency. Meanwhile, other initiatives are losing steam. Elon Musk has shelved plans for an autonomous Tesla to drive across the US. Uber has axed a self-driving truck program to focus on autonomous cars. Daimler Trucks, part of Daimler AG, now says commercial driverless trucks will take at least five years. Others, including Musk, had previously predicted such vehicles would be road-ready by 2020.

With these timelines slipping, driverless proponents like Ng say there's one surefire shortcut to getting self-driving cars on the streets sooner: persuade pedestrians to behave less erratically. If they use crosswalks, where there are contextual clues - pavement markings and stop lights - the software is more likely to identify them.

But to others the very fact that Ng is suggesting such a thing is a sign that today's technology simply can't deliver self-driving cars as originally envisioned. "The AI we would really need hasn't yet arrived," says Gary Marcus, a New York University professor of psychology who researches both human and artificial intelligence. He says Ng is "just redefining the goalposts to make the job easier," and that if the only way we can achieve safe self-driving cars is to completely segregate them from human drivers and pedestrians, we already had such technology: trains.

Rodney Brooks, a well-known robotics researcher and an emeritus professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, wrote in a blog post critical of Ng's sentiments that "the great promise of self-driving cars has been that they will eliminate traffic deaths. Now [Ng] is saying that they will eliminate traffic deaths as long as all humans are trained to change their behaviour? What just happened?"

Ng argues that humans have always modified their behaviour in response to new technology, especially modes of transportation. "If you look at the emergence of railroads, for the most part people have learned not to stand in front of a train on the tracks," he says. Ng also notes that people have learned that school buses are likely to make frequent stops and that when they do, small children may dart across the road in front of the bus, and so they drive more cautiously. Self-driving cars, he says, are no different.

In fact, jaywalking became a crime in most of the US only because automobile manufacturers lobbied intensively for it in the early 1920s, in large measure to head off strict speed limits and other regulation that might have affected car sales, according to Peter Norton, a history professor at the University of Virginia who wrote a book on the topic. So there is a precedent for regulating pedestrian behaviour to make way for new technology.

And while Ng may be the most prominent self-driving proponent calling for training humans, as well as vehicles, he's not alone. "There should be proper education programs to make people familiar with these vehicles, the ways to interact with them and to use them," says Shuchisnigdha Deb, a researcher at Missippi State University's Center for Advanced Vehicular Systems. The US Department of Transportation has stressed the need for such consumer education in its latest guidance on autonomous vehicles.

Maya Pindeus, the co-founder and chief executive officer of Humanising Automation, a London startup working on models of pedestrian behaviour and gestures that self-driving car companies can use, likens such lessons to public awareness campaigns Germany and Austria instituted in the 1960s following a spate of jaywalking fatalities. Such efforts helped reduce pedestrian road fatalities in Germany from more than 6,000 deaths in 1970 to less than 500 in 2016, the last year for which figures are available.

The industry is understandably keen not to be seen offloading the burden onto pedestrians. Uber and Waymo both said in emailed statement that their goal is to develop self-driving cars that can handle the world as it is, without being dependent on changing human behaviour.

One challenge for these and other companies is that driverless cars are such a novelty right now, pedestrians don't always act the way they do around regular vehicles. Some people just can't suppress the urge to test the technology's artificial reflexes. Waymo, which is owned by Alphabet Inc., routinely encounters pedestrians who deliberately try to "prank" its cars, continually stepping in front of them, moving away and then stepping back in front of them, to impede their progress.

The assumption seems to be that driverless cars are designed to be extra cautious so the practical joke is worth the risk. "Although our systems do have super-human perception, sometimes people seem to think Newton's laws no longer apply," says Paul Newman, the co-founder of Oxbotica, a UK startup making autonomous driving software, who recalls the time a pedestrian ran up behind a self-driving car and jumped suddenly in front of it.

Over time driverless cars will become less fascinating, and people will presumably be less likely to prank them. In the meantime, the industry is debating what step companies should take to make humans aware of the cars and their intentions.

Drive.AI, which was co-founded by Ng's wife, Carole Riley, has made a number of modifications to the self-driving cars it's road testing in Frisco, Texas. They're painted a distinctive dayglo orange, increasing the chance that people will notice them and recognise them as self-driving. Drive.AI also pioneered the use of an external LED-display screen, similar to the ones many city buses use to display their destination or route number, that can convey the car's intentions to humans. For instance, a car stopped at a crosswalk, might display the message: "Waiting for you to cross."

Uber has taken this idea further, filing patents for a system that would include a variety of flashing external signage and holograms projected in front of the car to communicate with human drivers and pedestrians. Google has also filed patents for its own external signage. Oxbotica's Newman says he likes the idea of such external messaging as well as distinctive sounds-much like the beeping noise large vehicles make when reversing-to help ensure safe interactions between humans and autonomous vehicles.

Deb says her research shows that people want external features and audible communication or warning sounds of some kind. But so far, besides Drive.AI, the cars these companies are using in road tests don't include such modifications. It's also not clear how pedestrians or other human drivers could communicate their intentions to self-driving vehicles, something Deb says may also be necessary to avoid accidents in the future.

Pindeus's company wants those building self-driving cars to focus more on understanding the non-verbal cues and hand gestures people use to communicate. The problem with most of the computer vision systems that self-driving cars use, she says, is they simply put a boundary box around an object and apply a label-parked car, bicycle, person-without the ability to analyse anything happening inside that box.

Eventually, better computer vision systems and better AI may solve this problem. Cities will probably remake themselves for an autonomous age with "geofencing," creating separate zones and designated pickup spots for self-driving cars and taxis. In the meantime, your parents' advice probably still applies: Don't jaywalk and look both ways before crossing the street.

While it gained popularityfor bringing affordable smartphones, Xiaomi has now brought a couple of new feature phones called Qin1 and Qin1s. The Chinese company has launched the new handsets under the Youpin crowdfunding platform. Unlike a traditional feature phone that comes with basic telephony and messaging support, Xiaomi's Qin1 and Qin1s offer advanced features, including real-time multi-lingual voice translation support that is backed by artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning. The Qin1s variant that supports 4G connectivity. Both variants are presently available for funding at CNY 199 (approximately Rs. 2,000). The launch is interesting at a time when 4G feature phones are doing extremely well in markets like India - to put that in perspective, the Jio Phone is reported to have taken a 27 percent share of the mobile handset market in India in Q2 2018, as per a CyberMedia Research (CMR) report. It's not known whether the newly unveiled Xiaomi feature phone will make it to India, but if it does, it certainly will have some competition.

Xiaomi Qin1, Qin1s specifications

Xiaomi has provided a real-time translation feature as the USP on the Qin1 and Qin1s that supports as many as 17 languages. The phones are touted to offer machine learning-based translations. Also, there is a built-in infrared (IR) blaster that transforms the phone into a universal remote and enables the controlling of TVs, air-conditioners, set-top boxes, and other home devices. The handset also has a USB Type-C port - something rarely seen in a feature phone.

The Xiaomi Qin1 and Qin1s both have a 2.8-inch QVGA (240x320 pixels) IPS display and pack a 1480mAh battery that is rated to deliver up to 15 days of standby time or 420 minutes of talk time on a single charge. Unlike smartphones that commonly found with touchscreen support, the Xiaomi phones have a T9 keypad for inputs along with a D-Pad for navigating menu options. The feature phones also have an alarm clock and weather report functionality. Furthermore, both measure 132x53.8x8.5mm.

The dual-SIM (Nano) Xiaomi Qin1 runs Nucleus and is powered by a dual-core MediaTek MT6260A SoC, coupled with 8MB of RAM and 16MB of onboard storage. The handset has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v4.2, and a USB Type-C port on the connectivity front.

The 4G variant that dubbed the Qin1s, on the other hand, runs Android-based MOCOR5 and has a dual-core Spreadtrum SC9820E SoC, paired with 256MB of RAM and 512MB of storage. The phone has 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS, and USB Type-C.

Xiaomi has launched its new smart trash bin on its YouPin crowdfunding store in China. This smart trash bin is not robotic in nature but offers a few nifty features that help in better waste management. For starters, the lid of the bin is fitted with a proximity sensor that detects your hand from a few centimetres and opens up to help you dispose things without having to touch it. Add to that, it comes with an airtight lid that restricts odour emissions from the bin. The campaign on YouPin has raised over CNY 3.7 million (roughly Rs. 3.7 crores) with almost 19,000 supporters. The smart bin has a price tag of CNY 199 or around Rs. 2,000, and is expected to start shipping from September 11, 2018.

The Xiaomi smart trash bin also has the ability to package the garbage bag once it is full. Users can easily take out the bag without touching the bin. Also, with a storage area to fit in empty bags, the smart bin will automatically replace it with a fresh bag to empty your trash in.

Dimensions of the Xiaomi smart trash bin are 240x310x402mm and weight is 3.5kg. Power output is 12V 2.2H, and it comes in a Beige colour option

As part of its lineup of smart home gadgets, Xiaomi last week brought the Mi Electric Toothbrush and the Mi Robot Builder to global markets, announced at the Mi A2 launch event. Furthermore, the Chinese electronics giant has also unveiled the new Mi Bunny Watch 3 smartwatch aimed at children. It has a Nano-SIM slot with 4G LTE support, and is available only in China for now.

BlackBerry Evolve और BlackBerry Evolve X को भारत में 2 अगस्त को लॉन्च किया जाना है। पहले इन दोनों स्मार्टफोन को BlackBerry Ghost और Ghost Pro कोडनेम से जाना जाता था। इन्हें भारत में ऑप्टिमस इंफ्राकॉम द्वारा लॉन्च किया जाएगा। बता दें कि इस कंपनी को भारत और कुछ दक्षिण एशियाई देशों में ब्लैकबेरी ब्रांड के स्मार्टफोन बेचने का लाइसेंस है। कंपनी ने अब इन फोन के लॉन्च का टीज़र ज़ारी किया है। टीज़र से फोन में रियर हिस्से पर मौज़ूद फिंगरप्रिंट सेंसर और दो कैमरे की झलक मिली है। पहले लीक हो चुकी तस्वीरों के आधार पर कहा जा सकता है कि ये स्मार्टफोन फिज़िकल कीबोर्ड के साथ नहीं आएंगे।
